South Asian Contemporary Art Amsterdam
Established by Tasneem Hatimbhai, SAC Art Amsterdam is an art house that specialises in modern and contemporary art from India and South Asia.
@sacart.ams aims to extend awareness of the scope of contemporary and modern art from the Indian subcontinent and its diaspora, encouraging international and European recognition for its many talented artists.
Established in 2024, SAC Art Amsterdam seeks to create an open and inviting cultural space which sparks curiosity and discovery through a programme that engages with both, a specialist audience and a wider community. SAC Art Amsterdam currently supports and promotes the works of several artists from India and S. Asia.

SAC Art is a new venture!
SAC Art was launched June 2024 but it is something I have been creating for a while. My background stems from the world of writing and editing stories in and around the world of art. I have been writing in art journals and magazines for over 25 years and I’ve had the opportunity to interview the very best amongst the art world – from Jehangir Sabawala, Anju Dodiya, Riyas Komu and Krishen Khanna to collectors and patrons, both old and new. During my MSc at @uva_amsterdam, my thesis was about the patterns of contemporary Indian artists at global auctions and my postgraduate course @jnanapravaha_mumbai in Aesthetics, Criticism and Theory also leaned towards contemporary art and modern art, both from the sub-continent and the diaspora. Over the past 10 years that I have lived in Amsterdam, I’ve been scouting the Dutch art landscape for Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi art… but haven’t found many and not consistently.Since then our little collection has grown. I have been writing in art journals and magazines for over 15 years and turned to @mumbaimills for creativity in both Mumbai and Amsterdam.
The shows at SAC Art Amsterdam invite reflection, empathy and transformation, yet also jest, joy and the sheer pleasure that only art can provide. The curation is deeply personal but also aims to show the audience a shared story, a woven, compelling narrative that has taken root in South Asia.
