Amina Ahmed is a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, printmaking, and textiles. Born in East Africa and of Kutchi-Indian, Turkic, and Nubian heritage, she grew up in England and is now based in the United States. Ahmed studied at Winchester School of Art and Chelsea School of Art and holds an MA in Visual Islamic and Traditional Arts from the Royal College of Art, London.

Her practice is grounded in geometry and the alchemical preparation of materials making pigments, inks, and threads as acts of remembrance. Drawing from folk traditions, Islamic art, and the patterns of the natural world, her work explores rhythm, language, and embodied knowledge. For Ahmed, the outward craft of making is an inward, meditative journey. Her intricate compositions navigate displacement, transformation, and ancestral memory, creating a space where history and imagination coexist.

Ahmed’s work has been exhibited at Jhaveri Contemporary (Mumbai), Nottingham Contemporary (UK), the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art (Riga), The Showroom (London), Queens Museum of Art (New York), Twelve Gates Gallery, and Pearlstein Gallery (Philadelphia).
