Rubert Soysa
MELODY OF WIND
The world around is a symposium of beautiful colours in all of their subtle and fluid varieties; and yet, we are blind to this beauty. We are engulfed in an ocean of electric light rays and animated waves. We remain wilfully in the dark here too. Our world is flooded by sounds which sync together to form an uninterrupted harmony. We are numb to that melody, deaf to that music. ‘Melody of Winds,’ showing at the Gallery Café from March 4th to April 1st, is Rubert Soysa’s attempt to transport this unseen and overlooked beauty into the visual field.
Rubert Soysa is an award-winning Sri Lankan artist celebrated for his depiction of both figurative and abstract forms, he believes that art is much more than a two-dimensional vessel for a message; to him, it is a mode of communicating human emotion. It is this grasp of the emotive that draws viewers to his works, and the reason for his receiving both the Prime Minister and President’s prize at the Ceylon Society of Arts’ Annual Art Exhibition and winning first prize in the ‘Best Painting’ category at the State Award Ceremony.
Holding his first solo show at the Vansbro Public Library in Sweden, Soysa has gone on to exhibit his work in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Syria, Cuba, Bulgaria, India, South Korea, and throughout Europe. Paradise Road Galleries is excited to host his latest ‘Melody of Winds’ exhibition from March the 4th 2021.
